10 Broadway Shows for Guys Who Don't Like Theatre

By: Raven Snook
Date: Jun 12, 2025

All theatre is for everyone! But if the man in your life isn't a fan, here are productions he may actually enjoy

---

Yes, we live in a post-gender era. And yet, the binary has not been completely banished when it comes to Broadway. According to The Broadway League's annual audience demographics report for the 2023-2024 season, 65% of Broadway theatregoers identified as women. While there are certainly many men who also love Broadway, some guys insist they're not into it. For dudes who resist the magic of theatre, here are some productions that may actually get them to change their show tune.

The Book of Mormon

Eugene O'Neill Theatre, 230 West 49th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Open run. The show is frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez's blasphemous blockbuster about the misadventures of two Mormon missionaries in Ugandan manages to be hilarious, irreverent and uplifting all at once. Fans of the crass humor in Parker and Stone's unstoppable animated series South Park will be instant converts to this musical, which delivers dirty jokes, obscene gestures and a merciless satire of religion with catchy tunes and palpable joy.

Chicago

Ambassador Theatre, 219 West 49th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Open run. The show is frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

One of the longest-running hits on Broadway (since 1996!), this musical centers on two merry murderesses competing for media attention during the Jazz Age. It's smart and sexy with tantalizing choreography (Fosse! Fosse! Fosse!) and sublime songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb. No one can resist "All That Jazz."

Dead Outlaw

Longacre Theatre, 220 West 48th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Closes June 29. If you're a TDF member, log in to your account to purchase discount tickets. The show is also frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

This gleefully morbid musical is based on the insane true story of Elmer McCurdy, a turn-of-the-20th-century outlaw whose mummified body became a sideshow attraction that ended up in a horror ride in a California amusement park. The show traces McCurdy's jaw-dropping journey, before and after his demise. It's a high-spirited hoot full of dark humor and kick-ass rock-folk songs by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna.

Glengarry Glen Ross

Palace Theatre, 160 West 47th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues

Closes June 28. The show is occasionally available at our TKTS Booths.

You only have a few more weeks to catch this starry revival of David Mamet's profanity-and-laugh-filled tragedy about a ruthless real estate office where the salesmen go for glory or go home. Succession's Kieran Culkin, Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr headline this tale of machismo run amok.

Hamilton

Richard Rodgers Theatre, 226 West 46th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Open run.

Sure, you can watch Hamilton on Disney+, but nothing beats being in the room where it happens. Lin-Manuel Miranda's acclaimed hip-hop history musical about the young scrappy and hungry immigrant who helped shape our nation is a veritable pop-culture phenomenon. Even after a decade on Broadway, this isn't just a show, it's an event.

---

Moulin Rouge! The Musical

Al Hirschfeld Theatre, 302 West 45th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues

Open run. If you're a TDF member, log in to your account to purchase discount tickets. The show is also frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

Director Alex Timbers' eye-popping stage adaptation of Baz Luhrmann's 2001 movie centers on the love triangle between a 19th-century writer, a nightclub temptress and a lecherous Duke. Audiences of all genders are seduced every evening by this romantic, over-the-top musical featuring a cavalcade of pop and rock hits and a stunning, scantily clad ensemble.

---

Operation Mincemeat

John Golden Theatre, 252 West 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues

Closes February 15, 2026. The show is frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

This veddy British musical comedy revolves around a real-life World War II plot to foil the Nazis by planting fake military plans on a corpse outfitted as a downed British pilot. The cast of five changes characters as quickly as costumes in this fast-paced, history-inspired romp that shares DNA with Mel Brooks and Monty Python.

---

The Outsiders

Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, 242 West 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues

Open run. The show is frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

S.E. Hinton's classic coming-of-age novel about a gang of greasers in 1960s Tulsa rumbling with their well-to-do rivals makes for a thrilling and compelling musical. The songs by American folk duo Jamestown Revival are evocative and the stage fighting is exhilarating, some of the best ever seen on Broadway.

The Play That Goes Wrong

New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues in Midtown West

Open run. If you're a TDF member, log in to your account to purchase discount tickets. The show is also frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

So we're cheating a bit with this one since it's Off Broadway, but this slapstick-filled hit about an inept college drama club doing a catastrophic performance of a 1920s murder mystery is a comedic crowd-pleaser. The title tells you everything you need to know—it's a meticulously choreographed disaster featuring falling sets, intentionally awful acting and laugh-out-loud lowbrow humor.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Marquis Theatre, 1535 Broadway at 46th Street

Open run. The show is frequently available at our TKTS Booths.

A stage prequel to the blockbuster Netflix series, Stranger Things: The First Shadow tells the backstory of the show's main villain with heart-stopping special effects. Find out how all the strangeness began in this sci-fi stunner.
